What is Karantina: A Historical Overview about?

Karantina was originally established as a quarantine area outside Beirut in the 19th century, and over time became home to waves of refugees from conflicts including Armenians and Palestinians. It has long been a diverse and marginalized area inhabited by outsider groups, but in recent years has started to experience some gentrification as surrounding neighborhoods undergo transformation.
