About this document

Saponification Reaction for Soap Production by Farrah Diyana is a document available to read on EtoBox.

This experiment aimed to synthesize hard soap through saponification and test the produced soap. Sodium hydroxide solution was prepared and added to fat in a flask. The mixture was heated and produced soap. Tests found the soap solution was alkaline with pH 8 and formed foam. Calcium chloride added caused cloudiness from precipitate. Trisodium phosphate prevented foam formation. The results supported the objectives and theory of soap production through saponification.
