During a survey of cinnamon plants in Kerala, India, researchers observed a grey blight disease affecting cinnamon leaves. The disease was caused by Pestalotiopsis palmarum fungus. Symptoms included small yellow-brown spots on leaves that later turned whitish-grey with a dark brown border. The spots enlarged to form necrotic patches up to 42mm in diameter, causing leaf lamina to dry up and blow away.
