What is An improved numerical inverse isoparametric mapping technique for 2D mesh rezoning about?
Abatmct-Mesh rezoning is essential in some tinite element analyses. Of the existing techniques, &pamme& mapping (x, y) + (8, g) is a mathematically sound and accurate approach. t-v of existing techniquea reveala that the predelmed line technique proposed by Murti and Valliappau [C-t. Structures 22,1011-1021 (198611 is the most e&ient for quadratic eknenta. A new, robust and more eiIIcient implementation of the pmde6ned tine technique is presented in this paper. Rxtenaions of the technique to encompass triangles and collapsed quadrllaterala are described. A detailed examination of ita solution convergence rate and its dependence on element distortion is conducted to better understand the technique's performance. Ita implementation for other 'than quadratic elements is also outlined. A numerical example is included to demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of this improved technique.
