Can I read High-Pressure Metamorphism in Subduction on EtoBox?

High-Pressure Metamorphism in Subduction by AdrianMayta is a document available to read on EtoBox.

What is High-Pressure Metamorphism in Subduction about?

Very high pressures but relatively low temperatures can occur during subduction, leading to blueschist facies metamorphism in mafic rocks. Pelitic rocks in subduction zones also experience unusual high pressure metamorphism, stabilizing rare minerals like coesite and phengitic muscovite instead of biotite. Other characteristics include the presence of carpholite and magnesian garnet instead of cordierite, as well as kyanite with or without potassium feldspar instead of sillimanite.
