What is Chemically Enhanced Wastewater Treatment about?

This thesis evaluated the use of different coagulants for chemically enhanced primary treatment of tannery wastewater. Alum was found to be a suitable metal salt coagulant, achieving up to 99.8% removal of turbidity, 97.1% of total suspended solids, 60.9% of total chemical oxygen demand, and 99.7% of chromium. Cationic polymers were also effective and produced lower sludge volumes than alum. The optimum coagulant dose and their effectiveness in removing various pollutants is summarized.
