A 32-year-old pregnant woman experienced prolonged standing which increased pressure in her leg veins due to enlarged uterus from developing fetus, weight gain, and increased blood volume during pregnancy. This malfunctioned valves in her veins causing blood to flow backward, swelling and enlarging the veins in her legs and led to varicose veins rupturing and profuse bleeding when she scratched the irritated skin.
