This document summarizes an approach for obstacle avoidance of a wheeled mobile robot using a genetic-neurofuzzy approach. A five-layer neural network is used with one hidden layer. Genetic algorithm is applied to find optimal collision-free paths by optimizing weights between neural network layers. Simulation results show the robot able to navigate among obstacles to reach its destination using this approach.
