What is Samidha Dhanam: A Brahmachari about?

SamidAdhAnam is a ritual performed by brahmachari (bachelor student) boys in Hinduism. It involves placing wooden sticks called samidh into the sacrificial fire agni during morning and evening twilight periods. It is done daily following the sandhyA prayer ritual. The sticks are preferably from the palaasha or peepal tree.
