William Wordsworth (1770-1850) was a major English Romantic poet. Some of his most notable works include Lyrical Ballads, published jointly with Samuel Taylor Coleridge in 1798, and The Prelude. Wordsworth had a daughter, Caroline, with a French woman, Annette Vallon, in 1792, before returning to England. In 1802, he married Mary Hutchinson and had five children, though three died young.
