About this document

CFD Validation of Gun Muzzle Blast by Umut Cırık is a document available to read on EtoBox.

This technical report describes a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) validation case study of gun muzzle blast using two CFD codes: Fluent and the Discontinuous Galerkin Code (DG). The codes were used to simulate experimental shadowgraph data from a 7.62-mm NATO rifle firing a training round. Unsteady grid adaptation was employed to better model the blast waves and shocks. The precursor flow results matched experimental data well but the main propellant flow results did not match as well. While both codes c
