What is Marx about?

Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels published The Communist Manifesto in 1848 to lay out their ideas for a socialist revolution in response to the problems of the Industrial Revolution. They believed capitalism caused growing inequality as workers sank into poverty while industrialists grew wealthier. Marx argued this would lead to a proletariat revolution where workers would seize control of production and govern themselves in an equal, classless society without private property.
