About this document
Experiment on Rusting of Iron Coins by Malcolm Ralph is a document available to read on EtoBox.
The students designed an experiment to test whether air or water causes rusting of iron coins. They placed iron coins in three test tubes - one with water (A), one with water and oil to block air (B), and one open to air (C). After 7 days, they measured any change in weight of the coins. They hypothesized the coin in test tube C, exposed only to air, would rust the most and gain the most weight. Comparing the initial and final weights would show if air or water causes rust.
