What is Thermal Imaging for Crop Water Stress Monitoring about?
This study developed a thermal infrared imaging system (TIRIS) for monitoring corn canopy temperatures to assess water stress in a greenhouse setting. The TIRIS provided high spatial and temporal resolution measurements, achieving an accuracy of ±0.62 °C, and demonstrated that the crop water stress index (CWSI) could effectively quantify soil moisture variability. Results indicated that TIRIS could serve as an alternative method for irrigation scheduling by correlating canopy temperature with water stress l
