This study analyzed the microstructural characteristics of accessory canals in the furcation area of mandibular first molars using micro-computed tomography (micro-CT). The research found that 99% of the examined teeth contained at least one accessory canal, with junior individuals showing a higher mean number of canals compared to seniors. The findings suggest that the presence of accessory canals may play a significant role in endodontic-periodontal diseases and reinfection after root canal treatments.
