What is Heat and Mass Transfer Characteristics of Magnetic Nanofluids about?

Due to the unique features of magnetic nanoparticles (small size, high surface area, superparamagnetism, and low toxicity), these can be excellent candidates for the design and fabrication of new functional nanomaterials used in heat transfer applications. The most used magnetic nanoparticles in thermal systems are iron oxides [magnetite (Fe 3 O 4 Þ and maghemite (γ 2 Fe 2 O 3 )], owing to their ease of preparation, oxidative stability, and biocompatibility. In recent years, the ground state transition metals of iron (Fe), cobalt (Co), and nickel (Ni), as well as alloys of transition metals (FeCo, FePt, CoPt, NiPt, FeCoNi,), have been investigated. General, a magnetic nanofluid (ferrofluid) consists of a colloidal mixture of superparamagnetic nanoparticles with sizes in the range 5À15 nm in diameter coated with a surfactant layer suspended in a nonmagnetic carrier fluid. The carrier fluid for magnetic nanofluid suitable for heat transfer applications must fulfill some requirements: high thermal conductivity, high heat capacity, and high thermal expansion coefficient . In addition, to improved thermophysical properties obtained by including magnetic nanoparticles in the carrier flui
