Heat Exchangers: Types & Applications by Ahmed Bilal is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Heat exchangers transfer heat between two or more fluids and are used widely in ship systems. The two most common types are shell and tube heat exchangers, which consist of tubes inside a shell, and plate heat exchangers, which consist of corrugated plates stacked together. Both allow fluids to exchange heat without mixing by flowing in close contact on opposite sides of metal surfaces. Proper maintenance like cleaning and corrosion protection helps ensure efficient long-term performance of heat exchangers.
