What is EBC Color Scale for Beer Analysis about?
The EBC (European Brewing Convention) color scale ranges from 2 to 27 units and is used to grade the color of beers, malts, and similarly colored liquids. It was developed by the Institute of Brewing and European Brewing Convention. The scale uses a standard path length of 25mm, but notes can be made of other path lengths used, such as 10mm or 40mm. Adjustments must be made and recorded if the sample falls outside the standard range or a different path length cell is used.
