This randomized, double-blind, sham-controlled trial investigated the effects of non-invasive transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation (tVNS) on exercise capacity in 28 healthy volunteers. Results showed that tVNS significantly increased peak oxygen consumption and work rate during exercise, while also reducing the inflammatory response. The findings suggest that tVNS is a safe and effective method to enhance cardiorespiratory fitness and may have implications for improving overall cardiovascular health.
