About this document

Gomburza: Accusations and Execution by Kim Flores is a document available to read on EtoBox.

The three priests Mariano Gomez, Jose Burgos, and Jacinto Zamora were executed in 1872 for allegedly leading a mutiny against the Spanish colonial government in Cavite. However, the priests had no involvement in the mutiny and did not even know each other. Their execution inflamed nationalist sentiments and they became known collectively as Gomburza. The Cavite Mutiny was used as an excuse by the Spanish to eliminate prominent Filipino figures and stifle growing dissent against their rule.
