This airworthiness directive from the FAA requires inspections and lubrication of aileron balance tabs on Boeing 737 aircraft models. Measurements of tab freeplay must occur within 18 months and then every 6,000-8,000 flight hours or 24 months. Lubrication is required within 9 months and then every 3,000-4,000 flight hours or 9-12 months. Any out of limit measurements require corrective action before further flight. The directive aims to prevent excessive vibration that could cause loss of aircraft control.
