The Supreme Court of the Philippines upheld the conviction of Lilany Yulo for violation of Batas Pambansa Blg. 22, which penalizes issuing checks that bounce upon presentment. Yulo issued three checks to Myrna Roque that were later dishonored by the banks due to insufficient funds. While Yulo claimed she merely lent the checks to a friend and did not directly transact with Roque, the Court found all elements of the offense were met as Yulo admitted issuing the checks knowing she lacked funds to cover them.
