This document describes a new method for producing precisely controlled and monodisperse biodegradable polymer microspheres for drug delivery applications. The method uses acoustic excitation and an annular carrier stream to produce uniform poly(lactide-co-glycolide) microspheres from 1-500 microns in diameter with narrow size distributions.
