This research article examines the effects of stressor duration on leukocyte and hormonal responses in male southeastern five-lined skinks. The study found that a 1-hour confinement increased the heterophil to lymphocyte (H:L) ratio and corticosterone levels, while a 2-hour confinement did not affect the H:L ratio despite elevated corticosterone. The results suggest that in reptiles, the H:L ratio and plasma corticosterone do not consistently correlate, indicating that one measure cannot replace the other i
