What is Use of Deceased Partners about?
The Supreme Court ruled that law firms in the Philippines cannot continue using the names of deceased partners in their firm names. The Civil Code states only living persons who can incur liability can be named. While some statutes and professional ethics allow continued use of deceased names, the Court found there is no such custom for law firms in the Philippines.
