What is Tesla Halts India Entry Over Tariff Dispute about?

Tesla has halted its plans to enter the Indian market due to a deadlock over import tariffs, which can reach up to 100% on imported vehicles. The company had aimed to test demand by selling imported electric vehicles but faced pressure from the Indian government to commit to local manufacturing first. As a result, Tesla has reassigned its team in India and put its search for showroom space on hold.
