What is Hector Berlioz: Romantic Composer Insights about?

Hector Berlioz was a leading French composer of the Romantic era. Some of his most famous large-scale orchestral works include Symphonie Fantastique and Grande Messe des morts. In 1840, Berlioz composed Grande Symphonie funebre et triomphale on commission to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the July Revolution of 1830. Drawing from some of his previous unfinished works, Berlioz completed the 35-minute symphony in just 40 hours. It was very well received at its premiere and indoor previews.
