This research article investigates a severe dengue outbreak in Maumere, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, which reported 1396 cases and 14 fatalities by March 2020. The study confirmed dengue in 72.2% of sampled patients, predominantly affecting children, with DENV-3 identified as the main serotype responsible for the outbreak. The findings suggest that high rates of secondary infections and pre-existing neutralizing antibodies contributed to the outbreak
