What is Saint Anthony about?

The Sermon of Saint Anthony to the Fish by Father António Vieira uses fish as a metaphor to critique human behavior, particularly the exploitation and betrayal among men. Vieira praises the virtues of fish while condemning their vices, drawing parallels to the actions of Portuguese colonists in Brazil. The sermon aims to provoke reflection and inspire moral change among listeners, emphasizing the need for conversion to avoid offending God.
