About this document

Anatomy and Function of Soleus Muscle by Jae Lee is a document available to read on EtoBox.

The soleus muscle is a large, deep muscle in the calf that works with the gastrocnemius and plantaris muscles to form the triceps surae. It originates on the posterior tibia and fibula and inserts via the Achilles tendon on the calcaneus. The soleus is constantly engaged to maintain an upright standing position and helps to plantar flex the foot.
