It was India’s First Home Minister - Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Iron Man of India. Hyderabad State of the Nizams was merged into Andhra Pradesh state along with some areas in Maharashtra and Karnataka. This was done by Sardar Patel, after Operation Polo, which was launched on 13th Sept 1948 by the Indian Army, led by Major General J. N. Chaudhuri.
