This study analyzed the stable isotope ratios of carbon (13C/12C) and nitrogen (15N/14N) in hair samples from 6 species of shrews (Sorex) found together (syntopically) in 3 locations in Utah. The researchers found that commonly occurring shrew species exhibited a broad range in 15N and some variation in 13C ratios, while less common species had non-overlapping isotope signatures.
