A univariate analysis of variance (UNIANOVA) was conducted to examine the effects of color (white vs. blue-green) and shape (round vs. diamond) of pills on pain rating. There was a significant main effect of shape, with round pills associated with lower pain ratings than diamond pills. There was also a significant interaction between color and shape, such that the effect of shape depended on the color of the pill.
