What is Bion about?

Wilfred Bion developed group development theory based on his experiences leading therapy groups. He theorized that groups operate on two levels - a work group focused on tasks, and an unconscious basic assumption group driven by defenses against anxiety. The three basic assumption groups are dependence on a leader, fight/flight against an enemy, and pairing for creativity.
