Housing associations are not-for-profit organisations providing longterm or transitional Community Housing. Organisations apply to The Housing Registrar to become a registered housing association or a housing provider. Once registered, all agencies are monitored on an ongoing basis. In the extreme event that a housing association fails, constitutional winding up and transfer provisions prevent loss of assets from the affordable housing sector.
