map and identify amplitude anomalies that would otherwise be difficult to discern visually on individual profiles. Eight examples are fully described and taken as examples of different problems (imaging in the nearfield zone, detection of vertical features, topographical corrections, etc.) of GPR detection and mapping. The main objection to these examples lie in the two following points which are quoted only at the end of the book by the authors: firstly, the examples shown here (essentially burial mounds in Japan and US) only constitute a small component of the many kinds of archaeological feature encountered; secondly, other methods exist and more comparisons with DC or magnetometric methods would have been desirable.
