The kiln stopped on August 18, 2012 at 16:13:00 due to a plugged meal chute at cyclone 3. Material had flushed out of the chute and accumulated, causing the flapper to get stuck closed and the meal chute to get plugged. This caused the temperature signal at cyclone 3 to be lost, triggering the kiln to stop. Workers cleaned out the material at cyclone 3, covered the poke hole to prevent further material from escaping, and checked the flapper bearing, which was in good condition.
