What is Plight of the Syrenni: A Vale Born Prequel Novella about?
After countless cycles of being an unwilling servant for the Umorfae in Lacausia Palace, Naiya Azal is finally doing something to change the fate of her Syrenni sisterhood. However, she has a problem, one she created herself. Her intrigue with Praetor Locrien, one of the Umorfae guards she is trying to subvert, has taken a turn. No longer just useful for information, the relationship has grown to something she's quickly losing control over. Working with a mysterious Ignisfae, she flirts with danger at every turn as she works to free her people. Bound in servitude for many cycles, the Syrenni have become a shadow of their former race the longer the Umorfae lord over them. Most of her sisterhood have forgotten their former strength when the Umorfae changed them with the Taming. Being one of the few secretly Untamed Syrenni, she uses every skill she can call upon to shift the balance of power. When a female Vale Born arrives to the palace, suddenly an opportunity presents itself as Opius, the Praetor Generalis, is distracted by her charm and beauty. Though Opius seems to have schemes of his own, Naiya uses the chance to finally turn the tides in favor of her sisterhood
