What is Carl Sandburg : a biography about?
Almost all poetry anthologies for young people contain selections from Carl Sandburg. This biography traces the everyday life of this most interesting man who worked as a farmhand, a dishwasher, a house painter, and as a soldier, among other non-literary jobs. This may explain why he communicates so clearly with common, while still being adulated by the literary elite.
A biography of the poet who became known for his ability to speak to the common people, by shaping out of the plain English of ordinary Americans the voice of their vast experience.
