What is Quadratus Lumborum & Iliacus Overview about?

The psoas major muscle originates from the lumbar vertebrae and inserts into the lesser trochanter of the femur, flexing the thigh at the hip joint. It is innervated by the anterior rami of L1-L3 and receives blood supply from the lumbar branch of the iliolumbar artery. The quadratus lumborum muscle originates from the lumbar vertebrae and inserts into the 12th rib, depressing and stabilizing the rib while enabling weak lateral flexion of the trunk. It is innervated by the anterior rami of T12-L4.
