Controlled Substances Act Overview by dana.botz is a document available to read on EtoBox.
The Controlled Substances Act of 1970 establishes 5 schedules of controlled substances based on their potential for abuse and accepted medical use. Schedule I substances have a high potential for abuse and no accepted medical use, while Schedule V substances have a lower potential for abuse than Schedule IV and accepted medical uses, with abuse potentially leading to limited psychological and/or physical dependence. Each schedule defines whether a controlled substance is available by prescription.
