This thesis focuses on the impact of geometrical imperfections on the strength of oil and gas pipes. Common imperfections like eccentricity, ovality, and lack of straightness are modeled. Finite element analysis is used to analyze pipes with and without imperfections under different loading conditions. The results identify a high dependence of pipe strength on geometry and strength reduction factors are proposed based on imperfection type, magnitude, and loading.
