This study compared the effects of pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) versus thermal radiofrequency (TRF) applied to the medial calcaneal nerve for treating chronic plantar fasciitis pain. Twenty patients received PRF to one heel and TRF to the other heel as a control. Pain scales and satisfaction scores were assessed over 24 weeks. PRF provided significantly better pain relief and satisfaction in the first 3 weeks compared to TRF. Effective analgesia was achieved within 1 week for PRF versus 3 weeks for TRF.
