What is 1-Islami Jamhoori Ittehad about?

Islami Jamhoori Ittehad (IJI) was a political alliance founded in 1988 by Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi and led by Nawaz Sharif, aimed at opposing the Pakistan Peoples Party. Despite winning only fifty-three seats in the National Assembly during its initial elections, IJI gained significant power in Punjab and eventually led to Nawaz Sharif becoming prime minister in 1990.
