Agricultural Statistics is an annual volume which brings together in condensed form the more important series of statistics prepared in the Department of Agriculture or compiled by the staff for official use. The aim is to present as much statistical information as is consistent with convenient use and wide distribution. As in the 1943 edition, it has not been possible, because of wartime restrictions, to maintain the usual size of the book. However, only such data have been omitted as could be dropped ·with a minimum of inconvenience to readers. The volume has been cut down largely by limiting historical tables to data beginning with 1929 or 1930 or to the past 10 years, by omitting monthly statistics, and by the omission of most of the foreign trade figures.
