About this document

Radiometric Dating Lab with M&Ms by MA. HAZEL TEOLOGO is a document available to read on EtoBox.

This lab used M&Ms to simulate radioactive decay and half-lives. Students shook a cup of 100 M&Ms 10 times, counting the number of M&Ms with the "m" facing up or down each time, representing radioactive and stable atoms. By plotting the number of radioactive atoms over time, students could see the half-life pattern of radioactive decay as the number of radioactive atoms decreased steadily with each shake until none remained.
