What is Rusu Society Animals 2014 about?
This study explored combining social story intervention with animal assisted therapy to improve social skills of children with autism. The hypothesis was that presence of a therapy dog during social stories would increase effectiveness by improving social abilities like greeting and introductions. Three preschool children participated and were taught two social skills. Results found the dog increased social initiations and decreased prompts needed for social responses.
