1. The data from the DPL (Data Pointer Low) register is copied (pushed) onto the top of the stack. 2. The stack pointer (SP) register is decremented by 1 to make room for the new byte on the stack. 3. The copied data from DPL is now stored in the memory location pointed to by the new value of SP.
