Four paracetamol tablets were weighed and powdered to prepare a stock sample solution of 100 mg paracetamol in 100 ml methanol and water. This stock solution was further diluted to make a 0.4 ppm sample solution. The absorbance of the sample and standard solutions were measured at 243 nm, which is the wavelength of maximum absorbance for paracetamol. The assay percentage of paracetamol in the sample was calculated to be 94.74% based on the absorbance readings of the sample and standard.
