This study investigated the aetiology of acute diarrhoea in children in Shanghai from 2015 to 2018, finding enteropathogens in 58.4% of cases, with viruses (41.3%) being more prevalent than bacteria (25.0%). Rotavirus (16.0%) and norovirus (15.5%) were the most common pathogens identified, while nontyphoidal Salmonella spp. was the most frequently isolated bacterium (10.3%).
